What is Rhythm painting…?

Many people use music as a driving, motivational force. They listen to it while they exercise, while they clean, as they’re driving and during a multitude of other activities. The definition of art is “The conscious use of skill and creative imagination especially in the production of aesthetic objects.” The definition of music is “The art or science of combining vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion.” How so very apt that these two definitions are so similar in nature. Art involves creating something beautiful or moving and music involves producing something beautiful or moving. David Slatten has taken these two definitions and combined them into what he calls Rhythm painting. Yes, other people listen to music while they draw or paint but David has taken it a step further and literally paints what he hears. The sounds of music come alive on canvas in a wide array of colors and patterns…all dependent upon the rhythm that is playing.
